Academic Relations Committee
As members of ISACA and the IT auditing profession, we all have a vested interest in helping to develop the next generation of IT auditors. The best way to do that is through the chapter’s Academic Relations committee. As chair of the committee this year, I’d like to ask your help to achieve a number of goals aimed at increasing awareness of the IT audit profession among students and educators.
- Establish a list of contacts at local colleges and universities and provide them with information about ISACA and IT auditing.
- Enlist some ISACA members who will volunteer to speak at local colleges and universities about ISACA and IT auditing.
- Establish a chapter scholarship program and award an annual scholarship to a student.
- Compile a list of IT audit departments that offer internships to students and coordinate this information between the students and the hiring departments.
- Identify some ISACA members who are interested in becoming adjunct instructors at local colleges and universities.
- Promote the ISACA Model Curriculum for IS Audit and Control to local colleges and universities.
- Promote ISACA student memberships and establish an ISACA Student Group at a local college or university.
- Coordinate the annual student night with the IIA St. Louis chapter.
- Support academic research projects and help coordinate projects between the students, educators and ISACA.
Interested in helping out with one or more of these initiatives? Please contact Doug Menendez and we will work together to achieve the goals and promote the IT auditing profession by becoming Academic Advocates.
