President's Message

I wanted to start off by thanking everyone who attended the September 2008 meeting. We had a great turnout and it was a good start to the new year. The topic “How to Complete a Risk Assessment in 5 days or Less” was interesting and the speaker was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

October’s program has been changed to “IT Security and Data Protection” from the roundtable discussion on “Managing Risk from an IT Executive’s Perspective”. There were some unavoidable scheduling conflicts. I apologize for the change. This topic will be covered in the spring of 2009. The new topic will be presented by Andrew Retrum, who is an Associate Director at Protiviti.

We will be updating the “Meetings and Events” page of the website to include future meetings covering topics such as Data Analytics and Ethical Hacking. We will also be having a couple of two day seminars. The first scheduled in February 2009 will cover issues related with the “Control and Security of Communication Networks.”  This seminar will be presented by Canaudit, Inc. Another two day session will be in April 2009 and it is a joint session with the IIA on PCI Data Security Standard.

As part of our new initiatives this year it is one of our goal to have more professional speakers present to the membership topics chosen by the membership in the last survey. We are always open to suggestions for future topics, speakers and facilities, especially since the highway 40/64 construction will change soon.

We will start publishing the newsletter beginning with the November 2008 Issue so watch your email inboxes.
